Last year, Moncler teamed up with OFF-WHITE c/o VIRGIL ABOLH™ for a hyper-functional collection of garments crafted to brave even the most devastating of winter climate conditions. This year, they’re back at it again, plunging deep into the Arctic Ocean and the North Sea fisherman aesthetic, to quarry true-to-nature inspiration for the Moncler O Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Streetwear meets the outdoors in the pair’s latest collaboration, with apparel boasting technical fabrics and detail for maximum utility: long, minimally stitched, glossy PVC anoraks and work coats with detachable hoods to put the impact of raining cats and dogs on a leash; nylon hooded jackets with a chic, silky look, featuring drawstring mechanisms and a frontal zip, along with practical, lightweight versatility; black, rubberised rivets and French-style pockets as thoughtful details against waterproof 19th-century England-inspired cotton fabric; twill weaves decorating padded, double-collared jackets, reminiscent of Scottish lakes; and parkas fitted with zip-sealed pockets, plus detachable hoods and see-through PVC rear yokes, for all-rounded flexibility of garbing.
Slapped onto the garments are easily-distinguishable orange silicone Moncler logos, or simply the brand name itself, more subtly and with greater exploration in terms of style, but with equal the conspicuousness, so that wherever you go, storm or sun-drenched sauna, you (and others) will be reminded of who to thank for dressing comfortably, fashionably and pragmatically.
