It’s hard to believe; but the New Balance 580 has been around for two decades – and, despite its age, is trendier than ever. To celebrate its Big 20, New Balance has teamed up with Parisian concept store colette to release a run of special edition variants of the popular 580 sneaker.
The collaboration has yielded two versions of the 580 in colette’s signature grey and blue, telling a story of the evolution of the 580 from the original classic to the modern deconstructed version that was released this year.
Sitting on an all-white sole, the classic version features a blue upper contrasted against a grey heel counter, while the deconstructed version essentially reverses the colourway, offering a grey upper and blue heel counter. Both versions also subtly incorporate the colette logo detail on the laces and sole.
$209 (classic) and $229 (deconstructed), available at the 580 Pop-Up Gallery @ Scape from July 9.
