The PEANUTS Gang Hits The Court With Bata Tennis

The PEANUTS Gang Hits The Court With Bata Tennis

There are few animated characters as enduring as Charlie Brown, Snoopy and gang from comic strip-turned-global phenomenon, Peanuts. Transcending age and consistently relevant with each sartorial appearance, Charles M Schulz’s characters see themselves revived once again to mark their 65th year as the faces of Bata Tennis for the coming together of two icons.

Originally released in select international locations late last year, the collaborative sneakers arrive in Singapore with new additions as part of Bata Tennis’ AW16 rollout, exclusively through local multi-label store and purveyor of enduring design, Actually. The special collection features the original Bata Tennis design that has been celebrated for the past 78 years, as well as the new Slip-On style. Featuring a white canvas upper with green piping lining the sole, each of the special edition shoes feature images of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and Woodstock chosen by Hayato Kohama, director of Peanuts’ Special Product Design division, directly from the comic’s archives.

While fans of the series would more commonly associate Charlie Brown with baseball (and being charmingly bad at it), the Peanuts gang’s reiteration in the game of tennis is both fitting for the collaboration and equally endearing, calling on mental images of Lucy lobbing balls at Charlie as he ponders life’s biggest questions. Let’s hope you have better luck on the court.
