Music and fashion’s coalescence has perhaps never been more prolific than now, and Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, is one such musician who’s becoming increasingly recognised for his pursuits in style and aesthetics as much as his melancholy brand of R&B. With his own XO clothing line, performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016 in Paris, and having recently signed on to PUMA as the sportswear brand’s Creative Collaborator and Ambassador, Abel Tesfaye now looks to dominate high street by linking arms with Swedish fashion giant, H&M.
Comprising a selection of men’s essentials, ‘Spring Icons Selected by The Weeknd’ presents a number of streetwear staples that mingle with sophisticated silhouettes and tailoring. Where sweatshirts and hoodies offer loose and laidback aesthetics, tailored shirts and sharp, cropped trousers bring refined sensibility to for the street-style dresser. Captured in a number of looks featuring his picks from the collection, The Weeknd strikes this balance effortlessly, pairing flat-fronted and cropped trousers with a printed hoodie, zip-up faux suede work shirt and semi-constructed blazer.
The selection also incorporates a handful of collaborative items that features the The Weeknd’s record label and clothing line ‘XO’ imprint, including a sweatshirt with a plus-sized print, a hoodie with printed sleeves, and a Mandarin collar shirt with the XO logo affixed to the breast. Speaking on the partnership, The Weeknd says, “I had a great time selecting my Spring Icons at H&M. I love the mix of urban pieces like sweatshirts and hoodies with tailored shirts and blazers. Every piece is both effortless and fresh, which is just how menswear should be.”
From $19.90 to $69.90, available at H&M stores from March 2.
