It often seems as if exercise and a healthy lifestyle are the opposite end of the spectrum of all that is enjoyable and fun. Not true. The Music Run™ by AIA, billed as “The Loudest 5K”, brings awesome, music-fuelled vibes and good times together with the righteous workout of a 5km run. Returning after its overwhelmingly successful launch last year, that saw almost 10,000 Music Runners sweat it out at Palawan Green at Sentosa Island, fun-runners will once again hit the trail to the tune of voter-decided Spotify playlists of pop, rock, old school, hip-hop and dance tunes, which demarcate separate running zones.
Since its inception in 2014, the music-and-fitness initiative has established itself as a global phenomenon, winning over fans in Los Angeles, Bangkok, Hamburg and Singapore. Never before have music and distance-running been combined in this way, and to such an immersive and interactive level. From four events in four countries with 35,000 runners in 2014, The Music Run will hit 40 cities in 18 countries this year and is projected to draw 350,000 participants, making it one of the fastest-growing fun runs worldwide. Together with Presenting Sponsor, AIA, and Digital Music Partner, Spotify, event organiser Exceed Sports & Entertainment has ensured that music lovers and fitness buffs can both look forward to the big day.
This year, Music Runners™ will be treated to the Sound Track, an interactive 5km course that spans each of the five aforementioned music zones, as over 120 concert quality speakers pump out over 150,000 watts of music throughout the course. To vote your desired songs into the playlists, proceed here.
Besides the adrenaline-pumping run experience, there’ll also be live performances by local folk-pop sensation The Sam Willows and an assuredly high-octane set by Australian EDM prince DJ Sam Withers.
The Music Run™ by AIA takes place on April 23 at Palawan Green at Sentosa Island. For more information and registration details, visit themusicrun.com. Follow the latest social media happenings with the hashtag #LiveTheBeat.
