If laughter is the best form of medicine, then the Magners International Comedy Festival is the remedy to any melancholic mood. Returning for its second year, Singapore is amongst the three Asian stops to be treated to more jokes, laughter and comic mayhem; with 27 of the biggest and brightest stand-up stars performing a massive 130 shows at nine different venues over three nights.
Amongst the comic troupe is John Robertson (USA), who will be gracing us with a live show of his YouTube hit, “The Dark Room”, in which audiences participate in the world’s only live-action adventure game in complete darkness. The world’s smallest comedian, Imaan Hadchiti (AUS/LBN), will be splitting sides with his mischievous and provocative show to challenge his small stature with super-sized laughs alongside Phil Kay (UK), hailing from Scotland and bringing his stream-of-conscience storytelling with him.
Because us Lion City-dwellers really know how to have a roaring good time, the hilariously shocking Shazia Mirza (UK) will be performing exclusively in Singapore. And those that say Singaporeans lack a sense of humour are bound to eat their words as our daring local talents – including the likes of Orion Perez (winner of the 2014 Magners Singapore International Festival New Act Competition), Marlon Olivan, and struggling expats BJ Fox & Suzanne – take to the stage to flex their funny bones alongside international heavyweights.
We’re giving away one pair of One Day Passport tickets, which entitles the winning couple to attend all shows and venues for one day of the festival. The winners will also be invited to the opening party on Thursday, March 19, to join comedians and organisers for rounds of Magners cider at Hero’s Bar. To get your fix of the funnies, simply head over to our Facebook post HERE to LIKE, SHARE and TAG your mate whom you’ll be laughing alongside. Entries close on Tuesday, March 17, so you better be quick.
The Magners International Comedy Festival runs from Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21. For more information, visit comedyfest.com.sg.
