There’s a reason why art markets are so popular; quirky handcrafted goods, mouthwatering Instagram-worthy munchies… what’s not to love? Mark your calendars: Art Market by The Local People will happen from July 1 to 3 at the upcoming SHINE Festival and will feature up to 60 stalls with a wide range of merchandise. For those who are unsure of which stalls to zero in on, we’ve sussed out some of the most intriguing offerings to help you out.
If you have a penchant for unique handcrafted jewellery, check out Curious Creatures, which uses semi-precious stones, wood and brass in their minimalistic and beautiful trinkets. The creative folks over at Secret Clovers also offer delicate handmade designs crafted with gemstones such as rose quartz, moonstone and lapis lazuli, which are perfect for layering.
Tee-Saurus, the local outfit behind witty, Singlish-drenched T-shirts and lifestyle products, will be hawking their wares along with Kerbside&Co, a multi-label outfitter offering raw denim and tees for lovers of vintage Americana.
MitchMatchh gives the traditional tingkat a modern overhaul with their adorable, pastel-hued stackable bento tins. The popular colours will be snapped up quickly, so make your decision with haste!
For bath and body products inspired by the humble neighbourhood kopitiam, head over to Shophouse Sixtyfive. The honeydew sago lip balm and rose bandung lip balm smell just like the real deal.
And if you want some actual food, the market has lots of offer, too. The Wicked Cream Co. will be roasting sweet and gooey marshmallow on sticks, featuring yummy flavours such as Baileys salted caramel and sea salt gula melaka. For a cold and delicious treat, grab an artisanal fruit popsicle by Momolato, then quench your thirst with Matchaya’s Japanese green tea latte.
SHINE Festival is organised by the National Youth Council and takes place from July 1 to 3. For more info, visit shine.nyc.sg.
