Following praise for its 247 Luxe and Sport iterations, New Balance is bringing its lifestyle-minded sneaker back to basics with the 247 Classic. Combining a streamlined, contemporary silhouette with classic tones synonymous with the brand, the Boston-based sportswear leader’s latest offering gives city dwellers solid footing amid fast-paced, urban lifestyles.
Sporting a performance-inspired silhouette that features a mesh upper and neoprene sock construction for elevated breathability, synthetic nubuck panels on the midfoot and heel, and a neoprene collar and tongue that comfortably hug its wearers foot, the Classic’s tonal, welded ‘N’ logo consolidates the sneaker’s iconic look in classic colourways of black, grey, navy and white. Engineered for everyday wear in urban environments, the 247 Classic’s lightweight REVlite midsole foam provides enhanced responsiveness, weighing up to 30% less than other similar foam soles.
In addition the Classic rollout, New Balance also presents a selection of exclusive colourways dedicated to women. Donning monochromatic colour schemes of grey, black and white, the women’s-only 247s feature the same silhouette and construction as the 247 Classics, but with a unicolour side panel logo for a minimalist, but no less familiar, aesthetic.
Engaging two Singaporean city slickers who embody the 24/7 grind, we capture Zouk resident DJ Benedict Teo AKA Zushan and illustrator Lydia Yang AKA Oak & Bindi in their element while sporting the New Balance 247 Classic. Watch the behind-the-scenes video of the fashion shoot below, and learn more about their urban lifestyles in our March 2017 issue on ISSUU.
