An artist whose legacy endures long after his life was tragically cut short, Keith Haring is a name inextricably linked to pop culture and, specifically, street culture. Bringing his bold lines and colourful optimism beyond the art world and onto clothing, concrete and subways, Haring’s iconic works are as attention-grabbing today as they were when spray-painted on the urban surfaces of 1980s New York. Paying homage to the late artist’s works for its Spring/Summer 2018 campaign, Coach brings Haring’s bold squiggles to its range of classic bags, accessories and apparel items, available first and exclusively at TANGS at Tang Plaza.
Revisiting familiar artworks like the blockish canine and radiant love heart motif, Coach presents Haring’s works with both simplicity and colour overload. Spanning its heritage line of silhouettes including the Rogue, Mailbox and Market Tote, the New York artist’s illustrations are placed front and centre, with shimmering sequins and primary colours making Haring’s figures pop. Elsewhere, items like an all-over floral-printed tote camouflage Haring’s works, while select apparel items like a reversible pastel pink varsity bomber are subtle present the street art doodles in both a subtle and over-the-top light.
Making its debut at TANGS at Tang Plaza on March 2, 2018, the collection’s launch coincides with a Coach x Keith Haring pop-up at the department store, which will offer shoppers perks that include a complimentary custom embossing and hotstamping on hangtags with bag purchases.
