After their floor-shaking set at Cherry Discotheque, A$AP Lou and J Scott of the Cozy Boys, more ubiquitously known as the tour DJs for the A$AP Mob, sat down with our man Prav to shoot the breeze and talk all things wavy and cozy. Peep their incredibly entertaining and illuminating chat below.
What do you think about Singapore so far?
A$AP Lou: It’s hot! It looks like a cool city; we didn’t really get to explore. We’re going to see the car-vending machine [Autobahn Motors] in a little bit.
J Scott: The car vending machine sounds fun.
What was your favourite city to play in on this current tour?
J Scott: I like Bangkok. But Singapore was probably one of the craziest crowds. Shanghai was like a stage, we were at this big venue. It’s probably built for huge performances. I
A$AP Lou: Shanghai was good but we were tired. It was a new club and it was really big. Bangkok was good and Singapore was good, too. It was a good crowd.
Does it surprise you guys to see your fanbase out here?
A$AP Lou: Yes, a little bit, We’ve never been to Singapore before.
J Scott: Yeah, we’ve never been here. I’ve been to Bangkok before and he’s been to Seoul. We’ve never been together. Kuala Lumpur was the most surprising to me. We’ve been to Shanghai and we’ve done a Cozy Boys gig there so we know what’s it like over there. I feel like Singapore is a little more up with things, they speak English here. Singapore is the one I felt like would probably be the best party just because I kept seeing people talking about it.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve witnessed from the crowd during your sets?
J Scott: People used to always come in robes, they’ll bring us Cozy gifts, which I’m not opposing. In fact, I’m kind of upset that people don’t bring us gifts anymore and don’t come in robes. It’s very inspiring to the cozy environment. We’re just cozy boys – we’re not trying to get too crazy.
What’s in the pipeline for the Cozy Boys?
A$AP Lou: Working on clothing and being cozy.
J Scott: We have a clothing brand and radio stuff. Also, developing a bigger show and breaking new artists and music within our sets in different ways and on different platforms. That’s pretty much it – we’re just trying to keep it based about music, clothing and staying cozy.
What song would you say is the soundtrack to your life at the moment?
J Scott: That’s a good one. Swoosh God’s “Get Out My Face”.
A$AP Lou: “Magnolia”. Actually that might be a move, Magnolia to Swoosh God’s Get Out my Face.
“We’re just cozy boys – we’re not trying to get too crazy”.
Since you guys are the Cozy Boys, what is your go to cozy outfit?
A$AP Lou: A sweatsuit. velour preferably.
J Scott: Some good slides. Actually, these Adidas track pants I have, I literally wear them everyday. That’s my go-to.
What about a cozy outfit in Singapore since it’s so humid out here?
A$AP Lou: Good cozy shorts, some slides for sure, and a good t-shirt
J Scott: I was just thinking about it. One of those good fans with the little spray bottle with the water.
That could actually be part of your merchandise drop.
J Scott: You heard it here first! Gonna sell it just here, since it feels ridiculously hot. ‘A$AP Lou: Singapore exclusive’!
Can we expect The Cozy Tapes Vol 2 anytime soon?
A$AP Lou: Of course! There’s no date to be announced yet, you can definitely expect it soon. Everything is top secret!
