Luxury street fashion label Imperial Taels has expanded to Southeast Asia with the launch of their Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, and Singapore has the honour of being one of the two countries to see the Asian-western fusion headed by Taiwanese-American actor-model Sunny Wong, best friend Ryan Yeh, and designer Chuck Lee.
Obviously proud of their Taiwanese heritage, the collection features a range of hoodies, T-shirts, and outerwear embossed with motifs symbolic of the traditional Chinese culture. Some of the highlights in this exuberant collection include the iconic Chinese Buttons Thin Hoodie which takes a mundane hoodie to a whole new level by adding the traditional Chinese button knot, injecting an element of ancient vibe into the modern piece.
The Chinese Gothic Tee adorns an outline of a painting of ancient Chinese royalties, and the Imperial Burger Tee takes inspiration from In-N-Out Burger and reinvents the signature logo with the brand’s name and “Taipei” on the back, exuding Taiwan pride. Representative of the brand, the logo, a traditional Chinese seal, is imprinted on the Imperial Taels Gang Tee.
Sunny is not only shaking the entertainment world, but he’s also making his mark in the fashion scene with his jewelry brand, Imperial Russels and further cementing his prominence in the fashion industry.
The Imperial Taels AW17 collection is available now on The PLAYBOOK Collective’s website and Union Studios at Orchard Gateway (#04-06).
