Inez Designs is the brainchild of a homegrown embroidery artist Inez Tan, who ditches the idea of using paper and paint, switching them up for a needle and thread. Using her eye for detail, Inez takes stitching and embroidery to a whole new level – it’s literally an explosion of colours and textures.
Her debut capsule collection, inspired by Lotería, a Mexican card game, is filled to the brim with different vibrant hues. Featuring the mystic eye, cactus, scared heart, shooting stars, skulls and flowers, the whole collection was sewn and embroidered by Inez herself. The intricate way of threading and the different textures is seriously a buffet for our eyes.
“She Draws, I Thread” is a heartwarming collaboration with Inez and her five-year-old daughter Miya, who has an affinity for doodling. Although a child’s drawings may be considered “too childish” or “not artistic enough”, Inez doesn’t alter the designs at all. Instead she fills the spaces with colours to give life to the drawings and adds her own touch to Miya’s imaginative drawings, further supporting the rawness and authenticity of her artwork.
To keep your memories alive forever, rather than taking a picture, transform it into an artwork with Inez’s genius stitching as a keepsake and memorabilia. A loved one, a pet, anyone and anything – Inez has a way to keeping your memories of fresh and alive with her needle and thread.
The Inez Designs capsule collection of bibs and charm necklaces, hoop art, and brooches launches on November 29 at www.inez-designs.com. Prices range from $59 to $150.
