From beginnings as a soft-spoken bedroom producer to collaborating with international producers and gracing the stage at Ultra Singapore, local singer-songwriter Jasmine Sokko has created shockwaves through Singapore’s indie electronic scene as both an inventive producer and up-and-coming performer.
In under a year since the release of her debut single, “1057”, the young, enigmatic artist has not only championed her own unique brand of indie electronic compositions, but has also applied her creativity to the music of her peers, including remixing songs by noir rock duo TOMGIRL and alt-R&B icon The Weeknd, and reworking songs that form part of the country’s musical heritage in The Great Singapore Replay.
In our latest instalment of JUICE Sessions, Sokko joins us at GRYD for intimate, atmospheric live renditions of her singles “1057” and “H2O”, as well as a special cover of Maggie Rogers‘ folk-dance hit “Alaska”. Watch the full session below to get acquainted with the young rising star.
