Sometimes, getting it all out is a good thing. On her third album VINE, Iowa singer-songwriter Jen Gloeckner bares all to the listener; her level of emotional disclosure is beautiful and devastating and harrowing in the extreme. The length and breadth of its 11 songs is suffused with a mesmeric ambient thrall that evolves in a hushed, soulful splendour throughout. Featuring contributions by John Ashton (Psychedelic Furs), Henry Padovani (original guitarist and founding member of The Police) and Angela Mattson (In The Valley Below), VINE was mixed by Brian McTear and Matt Poirier at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia, where artists such as Sharon Van Etten, Marissa Nadler, The War on Drugs and Kurt Vile have recorded material.
Slip on your headphones and plunge into its depths – VINE is perfect for those after-hours moments when the noise of the world fades to silence.
