You don’t own the mantle of ‘Hippest Band Alive’ without some nifty rollout gimmickry. And in true form, New York dance-punk cats LCD Soundsystem recently held a masterclass in how to pique the world’s interest in its savagely hyped, upcoming, as-yet-untitled fourth album, despite its seven-year hiatus. According to immersive media platform VRScout, the dashingly savvy James Murphy-led project unveiled a new track, titled “Tonite” via an Internet VR experience, christened, “Dance Tonite”, over the weekend. Check out a clip from what the band promises to be an “ever-changing VR experience” below. In related news, Murphy has said that the long-awaited new album will emerge in a few weeks, fuelling hopes that LCD Soundsystem will furnish a tight, smart, groove-and-snark-drenched batch of songs for summer.
