Since the release of his debut EP Mannequin in 2016, local singer-songwriter Leon Markcus has been on a mission to bring his unique brand of pop to the Singapore scene. Now, reimagining his 2015 single “Circles”, the solo artist sees Disco Hue’s Zie and Sherlyn, under their respective THIEVVES and VERONICA monikers, put a club-friendly spin on the baroque pop single.
Musically and visually, the young solo artist has exhibited his penchant for theatrics, and the reworked single continues this trend in spite of its reinterpreted sound. Adopting a future bass production by THIEVVES and featuring vocals by VERONICA, Markcus re-explores the theme of toxic relationships with an updated, story-driven music video that sees a narrative distinct from its predecessor.
