With an ever-growing list of production credits that includes names like Banks, Ariana Grande and Chance The Rapper, it’s no surprise that Peder Losnegård aka Lido knows a little more about the cogs that make the music an artists’ music turn. Despite his accomplishments thus far, the 24-year-old LA-based multi-instrumentalist and producer practices humility in his acknowledgement as being a drummer first and songwriter second, and admiration for those who paved the way for his brand of “good guy hip-hop”.
Speaking with us ahead of his performance at Kilo Lounge in Singapore, presented by Moonbeats Asia, the producer sheds light on the production techniques that draw him to some of his favourite artists: Chance The Rapper’s marriage of gospel and rap; Anderson .Paak’s percussion wizardry; Kanye West’s unhinged artistry. While with us, Lido also shares his feelings about former girlfriend and pop superstar Halsey, whom he continues to work with and hold in high esteem, having produced both her Badlands and Hopeless Fountain Kingdom albums.
