Our ever-enthusiastic favourite sea sponge made an appearance at Penang Fashion week 2018 on April 14. Nickelodeon‘s international SpongeBob Gold campaign celebrates all-things-SpongeBob, his humour, optimism and heart of gold. In partnership with 17 fashion designers, SpongeBob Gold was featured in their latest runway collections during Penang Fashion Week, which kicked off on April 14 and will run till April 22.
The event showcases both international and homegrown fashion creatives, including 17 designers and college students to interpret what they love about SpongeBob with their personal touch. The opening night celebrated five international designers – Jonathan Liang (Paris), Kev Yiu (Hong Kong), Illiza Ho (Taiwan), Carven Ong (Malaysia), and Bon Zainal (Malaysia). There were also 12 local designers who participated in showcasing their SpongeBob Gold fashion creations, which echoed SpongeBob’s positive vibes.

The fashion activation is also behind a charitable slant for underprivileged kids initiated by Gurney Paragon Mall, organiser of the Fashion Week. Sticking to SpongeBob’s personality of having a ‘heart of gold’, three children will be sponsored by Gurney Paragon Mall and gifted with specially commissioned SpongeBob Gold outfits.
The SpongeBob Gold fashion activations has taken place in United Kingdom (London), Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Mexico, Singapore, Spain and now, Malaysia.
