Having been recently announced as a performer to look forward to witnessing at Laneway Singapore 2018, the upcoming festival slot is just one of many milestones that Singaporean rapper THELIONCITYBOY is thankful for. To share his gratitude, he’s released a retrospective music video for “My Way” that takes a look back on some his defining moments with fans and friends.
Taken off his 2016 LP Paradise and featuring singer-songwriter Gentle Bones and producer FlightSch, the black-and-white video turns the melancholy lyrics of “My Way” on their head to showcase the musician’s tenacious pursuit of his art. Featuring footage from performances that include Ultra Singapore 2016, Shine Festival 2017 and Ignite Festival 2017, clips of the emcee in his prime are cut with candid moments of the team that helps him bring his music to his audience.
In a statement accompanying the release, TLCB shares that, “The fans – each person who’s bought a ticket, the album off iTunes or just spent your hard earned money finding your way to a stage I’ve been on. From where I stand in the booth or behind the mic, you keep me flying. I cherish the responsibility to tell our Singaporean stories and I hope to be a stronger voice as i grow as a person and as an artist.”
