Yeti Out, the trio of Eri, Tom and Arthur, has been Asia-centric purveyors of cutting-edge sounds for a hot minute now. And over and above the high-energy sets it’s blessed us with, the group is amplifying its legacy and impact with its latest move, its very own record label Silk Road Sounds.
The maiden release from the label is the titular compilation Silk Road Sounds Volume 1, a 12-tracker that celebrates powerful transmissions made by culturally fluid artists around the world. Taking as it does its christening from the Silk Road, the network of trade routes which connected Asia, Africa, the Middle East and parts of Europe, the comp is that rare, almost-magical intersection of good intentions and fantastic execution. It effectively gives the music showcased therein the ear of the world.
And then there are the artists. Future-charting personalities such as Bohan Phoenix, Aristophanes, Singapore’s own slodown and many more bring their template-averse best here. This is a triumphant convergence of worlds and the modern musicverse is the better for its existence. We can’t wait for more.
Jam it below.
